Mitchel Dee Jones died of acute heart failure at the tender age of 10 years old. Diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, his heart was destroyed by the ravaging effects of the disease much sooner than expected.
Our son will always be remembered for his quiet dignity, gentle love of others, sense of humor, luck with board games, and his love of life, adventure and family. Although his body was weak his spirit was incredibly strong – and those that knew him felt it. His broken heart has forever touched ours.
At the time of his passing, little Mitchie still believed in Santa, thought girls were gross and that his mother was the most beautiful, comforting person on earth. Mitchel also had a unique bond with his father whom he loved so much. Our son placed a high premium on his relationship with family, God and being home – something that has changed our lives forever.
As painful as this separation is, we know that our Redeemer lives. And because He lives, so also does our son. And we will spend the rest of our days chasing after them – so we might enjoy that sacred reunion and all that Heavenly Father would offer.
