Our loving father, papa, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Joseph Lynn Yeates, 68, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from a heart attack at his home in Brigham City, Utah.
He was born on May 20, 1946 in Logan, Utah, a son of Joseph Rutherford and Lucille Johnson Yeates.
He graduated from Weber State University. He served in the US Army from 1968 to 1974 during the Vietnam Era. He also served an LDS Mission to Ireland.
He married Roxie Ann Geisler, they were later divorced. Lynn married his soul mate Lynda Nelson on December 4, 1982 in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints attending the Brigham City LDS 24th Ward.
Lynn was currently serving as Box Elder County Sheriff. His law enforcement career spanned decades and included assignments on the ambulance crews, EMT, crime laboratory technician, patrol officer, detective, jail commander and the chief deputy sheriff. Lynn was also a Medical Examiner and taught classes in CPR and First Aid.
Lynn loved serving the county, spending time with his grandkids and family. He also enjoyed vacationing on the Oregon Coast with his sweetheart, Lynda for the last ten years.
Surviving are his four children, Amber (John) Kuchinski; Sherry A. Sorenson; Robert C. (Debbie) Lee; Brandon K. (Michele) Lee; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two siblings, Allie Bergman and Ralph Yeates.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his eternal companion, Lynda N. Yeates.
