Anchorage, Alaska, resident JoAnn Marie Aasand (Erlandson), 55, passed away on Dec. 27, 2014, at home surrounded by her family.
JoAnn was born on Oct. 7, 1959, to Leonard and Marion Erlandson in Fergus Falls, Minn. She was united in marriage to Kim Aasand from Grafton, N.D. on June 7, 1980, in Fergus Falls, Minn. They moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in October of 1982. JoAnn received an Associate's Degree in Nursing from North Dakota State University and worked as a Registered Nurse at the Alaska Native Medical Center as well as at Providence Hospital. She also assisted her husband with his business. She was as an active participant in church, serving as an Elder and Deacon, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and completing the Bible Study Fellowship. JoAnn enjoyed working in her flower garden, fishing, riding her bicycle, reading, cooking and trying new recipes but the thing she loved most was being with her family. JoAnn was a devoted wife throughout their 34 plus years of marriage and very loving mother and grandmother. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Kim Aasand; daughter, Sara Aasand (Lannen); son, Eric Aasand; and grandsons, Aaron Aasand and Luke Lannen; her parents, Leonard and Marion Erlandson; brothers and sisters, Janet Smith, Richard Erlandson, David Erlandson, Carol Eaton, Kenneth Erlandson and Duane Erlandson; and numerous nephews and nieces.
