Howardâ€™s parents were Earl J. and Mildred Hillman (Michaels) and he had siblings named Ruth, Louise, and Sally. Howard spent his early life in the Greenville, PA area. Howard attended Penn High School which later became Greenville High School and he graduated from Thiel College with a BA in Economics and then obtained a Masterâ€™s degree in Education from Westminister College where he later created the Howard E. and Sonia C. Hillman Scholarship.
Howard and the Hillman family lived in in the area of historic Camp Reynolds after World War II. Howard married Dorothy Danatich in 1960 and they had son Nathan in 1961 and daughters Heidi and Natalee and they settled in Fredonia, PA. Howard became head teacher and principal of Fredonia Elementary in the early 1960â€™s and was the principal for 29 yeas before he retired in the 1980â€™s.
Howard was divorced from Dorothy in 1992 and moved to Florida and married Sonia Minton in 1995 and they settled in Aiken SC, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Howard is survived by his sister Sally, children Nathan, Heidi and Natalee, nieces and nephews Billy, Gail, Doug, David and Buddy. Howard was cremated and his ashes will be interred at Delaware Cemetery on Route 58 in Fredoina, PA at a future to be determined date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fredonia Presbyterian Church.
