Francis H. Hazelton, a retired firefighter and U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, died suddenly at his home in Cambridge on Monday, September 13, 2004. He was 67. Born in Boston, Mr. Hazelton grew up in Roxbury and attended public schools in Boston and New York. He has also lived in Dorchester, Hull, Norwell and Quincy. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the army for three years including one year overseas. Mr. Hazelton was appointed to the Boston fire Department in 1968. His first assignment was with Engine 24, which, at the time, was located on Warren Street in Roxbury. He is the loving husband of Alice A. (Coffee) Hazelton. Loving father of Maureen F. Hazelton Bulger and Francis X. Hazelton both of North Quincy, Stephen J. Hazelton of East Boston and Master Sgt. William E. Hazelton, USAF and his wife Arleen of Germany. Loving Grandpa of Stephen J., Jr., Michael L., Alice, Christal and the late Susan Marie Hazelton. Brother of Ronald Fontaine of West Roxbury, Herbert & Sonny, Hazelton of Braintree and the late Kevin Hazelton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
