Dan L. McConnell
1945 ~ 2014
Dan L. McConnell passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2014. He left this life full of love and compassion for those around him. Dan was born on February 11, 1945 to John William (Bill) McConnell and Loa Grace Maynard in Murray, Utah.
Dan was the youngest of four siblings. As a young boy Dan grew to be a talented trumpet player, and excelled in many different instruments. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1963. Afterward he joined the Marine reserves and became the top sharp shooter, a title he held until just recently. He married his lifelong sweetheart Laura Lee Hone on August 30, 1966. They were later sealed in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple on May 11th.
He retired from Kennecott as a Journeyman Electrician, and spent many hours perfecting his talent in wood turning. He worked part
- time after retirement at Dixie Woodworks. Dan dedicated many hours of his life to service in the LDS church including The Boy Scouts of America.
Dan is survived by his wife Laura Lee, their three children, Danna (Brice) Clark; Natalie (James) Kaddas and Russell (April) McConnell. Dan leaves behind 8 grandchildren, who fondly remember his amazing ability to spin a tale about all his life lessons. Dan is also survived by his brother
William John Jr. (Peggy) McConnell; sister Loa Jeanette (Merlin) Hatch; and brother Elburn Cecil (Kathy) McConnell. He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother.
