Catherine Margaret Koester
Catherine Margaret Koester, 72, of Laurel, Maryland passed away on April 25, 2018.
Catherine was born on May 14, 1945, to Wilbur and Althea Koester, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Juneau High School and then obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English from Carthage College in 1967. She worked in counseling prior to attending law school in 1973. She received her law degree from Catholic University of America in 1975. She went on to start her own law office, Law Office of Catherine Koester, in 1975. She was admitted to practice in Maryland in 1975, in the US District court, District of Maryland in 1978, as an attorney of the Supreme Court in 1980 and in Colorado in 1989. She was active in Pro Bono work and received Recognition of Outstanding Service as an ADR Volunteer from the District Court of Maryland in 2009.
Cathy was an accomplished jewelry maker and enjoyed sewing. She was witty, smart, reliable, loyal and never afraid to speak her mind. She was always there to help anyone who needed it and was beloved by her family and friends.
Catherine is survived by her brothers Fred Koester and Bill Koester, nieces Penny Stapleton, Jill Koester, Pam Greer and nephews John Koester, Joe Koester and Dan Koester. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Althea.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in her name to Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Doctors Without Borders.
